ABOUT THE PUBLICATION

A record. Not a running commentary.

The Conservative Record documents Canadian Conservative parties, governments and public decisions at the federal, provincial and territorial levels.

Our purpose is to make developments easy to follow and the underlying sources easy to find. The archive starts with the newest records. Jurisdiction labels and topic links provide other ways to explore it.

How we report

Facts before reaction. Summaries describe what was announced, passed or implemented, who is responsible and what is known at the time. An announcement is not treated as an implemented policy, and preliminary results are labelled accordingly.

Sources stay visible. Entries link to original documents where available and clearly identify reporting from news organizations. Party statements are attributed to the party; they are not presented as independent verification of every claim they contain.

Dates matter. Each record identifies the relevant event date. Effective dates and later developments are recorded separately when known. Material corrections will include a dated explanation rather than silently rewriting the record.

Tools do not replace evidence. Research and drafting may be assisted by AI. The cited sources, rather than an AI-generated assertion, are the basis for each summary.
